T-matic connector 40-profiles
T-Matic Connector for 40-Series I-Type Aluminium Profiles
The T-Matic connector is a high-strength, low-profile fastener engineered for rapid and clean assembly of modular aluminium frames. Designed for 40-series I-type T-slot profiles, it delivers a rigid, nearly invisible joint without bulky external brackets—ideal for machine frames, guarding, enclosures, workstations, and automation fixtures.
Key Benefits
- Fast, clean assembly: Self-forming, thread-cutting action creates a secure internal thread interface—no tapping of the profile required.
- Hidden connection: The joint is made from inside the slot, preserving a neat, unobtrusive exterior.
- High rigidity: Forms a strong mechanical lock between profiles for stable and vibration-resistant frames.
- Reconfigurable: Ideal for modular systems that may need to be adjusted or disassembled.
- Minimal swarf: Chip-free thread formation keeps assemblies clean and precise.
System Compatibility
This connector is designed for 40-series I-type extrusion systems and is compatible with:
- ITEM (I-type series)
- ISB
- ISP
- Generic I-Type 40-series
Note: Use only with I-Type 40-series profiles of matching slot geometry (typically Slot 8 in I-type systems). Do not mix with B-Type or European variants unless explicitly listed as compatible.
Typical Applications
- Machine bases, frames, and gantries
- Safety guarding and enclosures
- Workstations, carts, and storage racks
- Fixtures, jigs, test rigs, and light automation structures
- Clean-looking corner and T-joints where external brackets are undesirable
How It Works
- Insert the connector sleeve or threaded element into the slot of the first profile.
- Align the mating 40-series I-type profile to the desired position (T- or corner joint).
- Tighten the clamping screw from the accessible side; the connector forms its thread interface and draws the profiles together.
- Verify alignment and final torque according to the profile/connector variant.
Installation Tool
To install the T-Matic connector, use a Torx 50 bit or Torx 50 key to drive the threaded sleeve into the profile. The sleeve features a self-forming thread that engages the internal walls of the aluminium extrusion as it is screwed in with a clockwise rotation. Applying steady torque ensures proper seating and alignment while avoiding damage to the sleeve or profile. Once the sleeve is fully installed, the connecting screw can be tightened to complete the assembly.
Product Features
- Internal clamping design for a flush exterior and clean aesthetics.
- Self-forming/thread-cutting mechanism—no pre-tapping of the extrusion core required.
- Robust steel construction (zinc-plated as standard) ensures durability and long service life.
- Repeatable assembly using standard hand tools (Torx or hex key depending on variant).
- Thread size M8 suitable for most 40-series I-type systems and medium-to-heavy load applications.
Technical Notes
- Profile series: 40-series I-Type (typically Slot 8)
- Thread options: M8
- Material: Steel (zinc-plated) as standard
- Installation torque: Refer to datasheet for specific tightening values
- Load direction: Suitable for axial and shear loads; determine connector count per design requirements
Selection & Compatibility Checklist
- Confirm I-Type geometry and 40-series sizing
- Match the connector’s slot compatibility (typically Slot 8)
- Use the correct M8 thread size for optimal fastening strength
- Verify material and finish for environmental resistance
- Ensure sufficient tool access for Torx 50 installation
What’s Included
- T-Matic connector assembly (threaded sleeve/insert + clamping screw)
Why Choose a T-Matic Connector?
Compared with external angle brackets, the T-Matic connector maintains clean lines and reduces snag points while achieving a rigid, serviceable joint. It speeds up assembly by eliminating tapping and minimising machining—perfect for rapid prototyping and production-grade modular frames alike.
